2 coins.jpgSo I've seen where others posts play "spot the 40%", I thought I'd play that game with a slight twist. Spot the Clad. guess the clad.jpg Let's see if anyone can figure it out, I sure was fooled.

I went thru 14 boxes over the weekend and was totally skunked:BangHead::BangHead::BangHead: It seemed they were someones dump as many of the coins had 3 black sharpie lines along the ridge of the coin, some of the rolls had 10+ coins that were marked this way. Anyone else see these type of marked coins? After last weeks 7 skunks I'm just hoping I'll be getting through this massive dump collection soon.

As for finds, I came across an 87 proof (1st for me) and a what looked like silver at first but I'm guessing is a silver plated 1974 (haven't seen one of these before), would have been neat if it was a 74 DDO. I've seen gold plated but never silver plated halves, why would someone waste the time on doing this?

When I was dumping my coins I got an interesting star note star note.jpg Anyone know what one of these might be worth? If it's not worth much I'll probably just send it back into the wild as it won't make sense to pay the fees on ebay.

Thankfully I didn't end the week completely skunked, I picked up $5.50 in halves from a tellers tray and got 3 40%. teller finds.jpg

Wow I have no idea by the pic which is clad- so ill guess and say the 2nd one from the outside/top of the thumb(the last one totally looks like a 40%)

just keep stacking, just keep stacking, stacking stacking stacking

totally second from the right, plated. looks good though! I found a plated one today that looked spot on a worn 40%

Nice. Oddly enough I just found an '87-S, my 3rd in the last 6 days???

I also found a silver plated half earlier in the week. Weird, like you said, who does that??

I'm guessing the clad is the 2nd one.

I am going to say the one on the left. And yep, I have been getting the sharpies marks on them.

I'll say the one on the far right is a plated clad.

Not to shabby FormerTeller, second from the right is correct. It is the 1974 silver plated half that I was convinced was silver, escpecially since I had just gone thru 13 skunk boxes. I'll be going thru 12 boxes in the next couple days (6 today and 6 on Friday), hopefully it's better this week/

Cooper36, where are you located and who do you order from? I'm just wondering where to/from these marked coins have travelled?

Anyone got any info on the 1974 $20 star note?
