Just wanted to let my fellow Fisher owners know about my problem and the service I got from Fisher.

If you are familiar with the 1270 you know about the battery doors (2) on the bottom of the machine. Well I loaned my 1270 to an awesome relic hunter who will remain nameless (you know who you are)  ;D and they didnt spend much time hunting that day because one of the battery doors fell off in the first 20 minutes of the hunt. The person in question felt bad about it and looked for it for the rest of the day with no luck finding it. I will stop here to say that it is a great machine but what a piss poor design on the battery door!!! If you own one of these units wrap a piece of electrical tape around the doors so they will not fall off because THEY WILL!!!! So I called Fisher up that same day and told them about my problem and they put a new one in the mail for me that day. I got it back together and the machine was back in service the same week. My machine was down only for a few days. With the tape modification it will not come off again! With all the flack Fisher is getting over customer service I just wanted to let everyone know I did have a good experience with them.

Keep laughing BB! :D

Yes even the older Fisher 1235 had the doors attached with line so they couldn't come completely off or lost. I've seen guys with doors secured with duct tape.

No fishing line on mine they just fall right off. The retaining clips on the doors are cheap and dont latch very well. I got it fixed and put the duct tape on them. That should do it! Other than the battery door design it is a great machine.
