It was a goal of mine this year to shed some chub, so instead of hopping in my vehicle, I decided to to hump it. That being said, to kill some time before the tides flipped, hit a park that's named after one of the Brick barons that once inhabited the area...

Yes, those are batties that look like cigarettes...

On my way to my next location, I decided to take a poke at an abandoned rail line that between my last and next location, round the bend.....MORELS!!!!!!.....I am tickled pink noting beats black and yellow gold, at least 2lbs worth woohooo!

Next stop, "Ball" Beach in TC, you know where I found those mystery balls...add two more to the collection.

I get a honk on the phone, from a buddy I will name "Mr. Sifter", he was hooting and hollering! He told me he sifted a Hibernia, a Faberge ring with diamonds and a French 30 deniers (I think its BS). I was like wtf, I am digging these stupid balls and he is sifting coins and a ring...So I hump it 3 miles to his location, in which I will refer to as "Victorian Grey Cliffs"...While I nearly didn't have the success "Mr. Sifter" had, I did score a really nice 1919 Wheatie (like I need any more)..

Such a shame, broken stoneware bottles everywhere...

All in all, not a bad day, but not the best either..if it wasn't for the Morels, I would call the day a bust...Hey, at least I can have a tasty meal..

Yea, this Morel season has been a bust probably due to the crappy winter we had. I usually bag 5+ lbs every time I go out..not this year. I guess I have to wait for the Black Trumpets and the Chanterelles pop up so I can make a little bit of dough, I usually get about 32 bucks a lb for FRESH morels and 15 an oz for the dehydrated morels...

Just inform people on what I am talking about...

Black Trumpet "Trumpet of Death" (Craterellus Cornucopiodes)

Chanterrelle (Canthrellus Cirbarius)

Once you eat wild shrooms, you'll never want to touch that grocery store garbage again..

Nice, yummy, and haaaaaa another wheat!

Usually around early July. .all depends on the weather and the rain..

Late July, early August for the trumpets. .
Mid to late August for the Boletes (porcini)
Mid September to first frost for the hen of the woods (maitake)
Oysters year round..

Wheaties are becoming an annoyance, almost to the level of pull tabs or copper flashing clippings. Even more so, when you have roughly 20+ k waiting to be combed through. ..its what this hobby is hours of annoyance for that moment of excitement
