Man, what a great weekend! I hope you all had a ton of fun too. It was nice and sunny and almost 90 both days. I have not been out swinging in about a week and a half due to everyday life so I was excited to get back out this weekend!
Got to Golf Sat morning, then we played Football at the field for a while and then we pulled out the detectors and did some swinging.
Tons of targets and the clad was everywhere! We got 5 quarters, 7 dimes, 4 nickels, 24 pennies and a 1940 Wheatie. Pulled out a luggage key, a broken house key, part of a spoon and other odd metal objects.

Not too bad for the finds and as we were getting ready to pack it up we decided a couple more goodies on the way back to the car. Beep, beep, dig — Quarter! Beep, beep, dig — Dime! Beep, beep, dig — OMG! Another Merc! Can’t wait to see the date on this one.
Clean up the goodies and this Merc is the oldest coin we have found! A 1916 and in decent shape. Edges are softened but the date is totally readable. Oh yea, my son says…. This is over 100 years old Dad! We are def going for an ice cream!

Sun comes along and we do our stuff around the house. My sons friend wants him to come over so I drop him off and decide to go swing again as I had a couple of hours to kill. Man it’s hot out! Take the cooler with a lot of water in it and off I go.
I as doing my thing and along comes a lil girl and her brother. She is like 4 and he is 2. She asked what I was doing as her mother was wondering and so I explain and now have 2 new buddies helping me out. They were so cute. They got so excited when I would dig a hole. I gave them both a couple of pennies and any cool rock I found. The girl said I was doing a really good job as she couldn’t tell where we dug the last hole.
So I had a good day of clad. Pulled out 8 quarters, 11 dimes, 9 nickels, 25 pennies and a 1942 & 47 Wheatie.

So in the cleaning process I find a coin that is just about quarter size but it didn’t have GW on it. After some scrubbing it turns out to be a 1991 Peso! This is my first foreign coin I have found so far. I know it is nothing special but cool to find all the same.

Well thanks for looking. Hope you had fun this weekend as well!
Good luck out there!

Congrats on your finds and nice post, "no man is as tall as when he bends down to help a child" good hunt and representation of the hobby. WTG

Wonder about the "mintmark" myself. And the answer is???????

Thanks for all the kind words. It was a good weekend swinging!
I do like finding Mercs. This field has been very good to me so far as this is my 4th.
I didn't realize this could be a special coin. I will look again tonight but it looks like it has a W on it for a mint mark. Similar to the 35 I found.

Here is where the mint mark will be, if there is one-ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1497361966.237677.jpg

Hope it's a D!

W i what . As already mentioned by prestigious members try the reverse; ... on back bottom left of the fasces (Looks like a pole).

Congratualtions on the productive hunt! :occasion14:

I sure hope that dime has a "D" mint mark!

And the answer IS? (drum roll)...........

It is really tough to say... coin is pretty worn.
I can see a D sometimes but maybe because I want to... Do you see a D?
I know, blurry pic... hard to get a real close up.
:dontknow:

sdt, I SO wanted to see a "D" there, but didn't see one yet. YET...
Regardless, that coin is a treasure. So is the story of how you found it.
Sounds like you had a great time with family, too.
Nicely done!
