10 IH's, 3 Barbers and a Admiral Dewey Visit token! Great 2 hour hunt!

So today I hit the woods yet again for another exploration adventure. I seemed to have stumbled upon a turn of the 19th century picnic site! :icon_sunny: 10 Ih's which I have not cleaned yet. 3 Barber dimes a 1897, 98 and 03! Also found a supper cool medal. Says "Admiral Dewey's Visit" May 1900. Other side says Dewey's Flag Ship Olympia. These are ALL the finds today, nothing but early 1900's items. Best Hunt in a long time for sure. :laughing7: Dewey token. 002.JPG Barber #1 003.JPG Barber #2 005.JPG Barber#3 007.JPG old pocket watch 004.JPG 009.JPG 010.JPG011.JPG 012.JPG 014.JPG 015.JPG 016.JPG

George Dewey was the Admiral in charge of the Navy during the Spanish American War in 1898. Little know war most people have forgotten about.

Wow what a great hunt! Is there by chance an S mint mark on the 03 Barber?

No mint on all three dimes. I will save the cleaning for the IH's till winter when cabin fever starts to set in

Nice medallion! Congrats!

Well I figure if someone lost a huge pocket watch,, possible drop a Morgan dollar? Wishful thinking :dontknow:

Nice Barbies and old token. The Olympia is now in Philadelphia and can be visited.

Really.... You know Barbers and Seated coins are cool but when it comes to a war struggle people seem to get excided?

War is a great thing ? Did I miss the memo ?

Dewey was known as the hero of Manilla bay. I believe these metals were struck for his patriotic victory tour.Friend found one years ago in an old fire pit. Nice find

Nice your racking in the goodies! Congrats!

awesome finds, nothing like pulling multiple indians knowing a barber or seated is right around the corner

Yes I had heard this area had some early 1900's activity I just didn't know were the main picnic area was located. So after about an hour of hitting some high ground and wandering around aimlessly I found this site. Normally that's my method when into a new area, first hit high ground and any area around old growth trees. Anyway these finds were only from a acre or two and there is a lot more higher ground with old trees I didn't have time to explore! I am guessing there should be a lot more coming out of this site judging from the small area I was detecting pulse all the iffy signals I past up seeing as it was my first go at this site. Productive sites like this drive me to the edge of my seat wanting to get back. AARRRGG! :BangHead:

Amazing hunt! Better then the best day I've dreamed about having. Congratulations.

Very very nice haul. Congrats on the old treasures!
