Starting at the end I got 10 Coppers today, (2 1700 coins) Previous best was 9, also got 10 buttons, but only managed to get home with 6 buttons ?
Anyway started off right out of the gate with a copper in minutes, I think the very first dig, there was relatively little junk all day, a few iron bits, no AL trash. Wasn't long before I had a second, then ZDD having no luck was thinking of moving on when he nabbed an early french Silver 1677 (the last pic.)
Moving on to area #2, I was getting a copper every second pass on about an 80 foot square. It was fun. I was up to 8, and the area was covered in foot prints. Expanded the search area for awhile with not much hitting, I went back to the noisy patch, went slow, and dug the mixed signals.
Found another "shield" copper, coincidentally I got a sheld copper the day I got 9 coppers, I thought was a NJ, turned out to be a conder, so is this one. I IDed it as scottish 1791 (2nd last 2 pics.)
Lastly I thought all the buttons were plain flats, but a little dry tooth brush when home revealed a decent Navy button. Great only the second one of those.
A very nice day in the out of doors, and a record breaker to boot.
