After I saw this bloom I had a felling that Sunday was going to be a good day. Does anyone know what kind of Bloom that is? No moisture around here for months and this shows up. Must be God sent.

As it turned out, the day was good. During an afternoon I found 2 gold and a gold plated silver earring in about a 1 ½ hours. The turtle earring is marked K14 which is 14K, I don’t know about the stones set in it. But I would venture to guess that they are diamond begets.

The other gold earring is marked 585 and Italy, I do believe that’s the European equivalent of 14k. I venture to say on this one that the stone is amethyst.

The other earring is marked RSE 925. I think this piece is gold plated using .925 silver as a base metal. The other mentionable are the costume lucky sandal, about $6.30 in clad and a 1955 modern day dropped wheat.

Nice finds Ant! Here is some info on the flower:

Caesalpinia gilliesii will grow as a small tree or large bush. The red stamens are a knockout, contrasting sharply with the pale yellow flowers. Caesalpinia gilliesii is hardy into the mid-teens. The seedpods can sometimes linger and can be removed, and if the temperatures drop below 20 there is likely to be some frost damage. The seedpods are poisonous so care should be taken if there are animals or small children that might not think first. Occasionally there will be a seedling or two. Caesalpinia gilliesii can be found on disturbed areas such as roadsides or dry washes. The Native Bird of Paradise prefers infrequent deep watering.

Thanks everybody for all the kind replies.

Thank you for the great ID on the plant SoCalMark. So it looks like the colloquial name is the Native Bird of Paridce. You are not only are a great detectorist, but a Botanist too.

Neat flower, any idea what it is?

Hi Paul1410.
SoCalMark nailed the ID, Caesalpinia gilliesii, or Native Bird of Paradise.
