Went back to the spot in the woods where I pulled a toasted KG the other day. It's full of iron, but I went really slow and dug 1/2 of a colonial shoe buckle! I'm bummed that it's only half, but it has a nice design on it and even has a "WH" makers mark on the back. Tried to research those initials, but no luck. It would be amazing if I could find out who produced this buckle and maybe pinpoint a date on it.

Also found my very first V nickel! Definitely a bucket list find for me. Only took 4 1/2 years to dig one! It's from 1905 and in better shape than most of the buffs I find. It was only 3 inches down, but right next to a rotted log. Probably why I missed it the last 50 times I was at this spot! LOL!

Finally, I found a mystery relic. I'm guessing oxen or horse tack related, but you tell me. It's brass and has a knob on the top. Guesses are appreciated on this one!

Nice finds. Mystery relic looks like a blunt spur if it's broke on the one side. Never hear of such a thing, but that's what I immediately thought of.

pretty cool finds, congrats on the V nickle. no idea on the other

Nice buckle half.

THE THINGY THAT LOOKS LIKE A SPUR IS FROM 1800S ANDIRONS >I FOUND ONE THE SAME WAY AND IF YOU LOOK AT THE 1800s FIREPLACE LOG HOLDERS YOU WILL SEE. NICE FINDS.

Congrats on your first V Nickel and getting it REMOVED from the bucket list.:headbang: Half a cool old buckle is better than zero old buckle. Cool find on the brass thingy with the confirmed ID right here on T-Net!!!:hello2: Ya' gotta' love these peeps. So much knowledge, experience, and just decent helpful folks here. Life is GOOD!:hello:

I never would have figured that one out without TNet. Just a junk find, but it's a sign that there may have been a home site at this spot. No cellar holes around, but maybe a cabin was there in the 1800's. I guess I'll be hitting this spot another 50 times until I'm sure there's nothing left! Gotta be at least one 1700's silver coin in there somewhere...

Nice ornate buckle fragment! I love finding buckles.

Don't see many marked shoe buckle frames. One of my favorite relics. Great find my friend
