US State Changes Law To Steal Pirate Video
This article could get a bit confusing; it is about the US state of North Carolina changing an anti-piracy law so it could use the internet to copy and share somebody else’s documentary videos… which happen to be about pirates of the nautical variety...
Can anyone help me identify what this is? I assume it is from an old shipwreck that washed up on the beach. It has 4 golden rods that go into the wood. It also has iron spikes, wood plugs and holes that serverd som purpose. I have addition pictures if someone can help.
I am looking for someone who may have in their possession pictures taken by a relative or friend who traveled on the RMS Republic.. I would love to have copies of any pictures taken before the ship sank in 1909. The RMS Republic was a steam-powered ocean liner built in 1903 by Harland and Wolff...

I'm currently putting together an episode about Captain Kidd for a well known Travel Channel show.
Right now we are looking into Captain Kidd's stand on Ile Sainte-Marie, Madagascar against Robert Culliford in 1698. Being as the island was a well-known pirate haven, is anyone...

Hi,
I posted this query on Reddit and was advised to come here as you guys are so knowledgeable. I am a writer and am trying to solve a mystery relating to the owner of a gold ring lost in a shipwreck (or perhaps murdered for the ring). As this material will be used in a book that is yet to be...

With the legal battle over the rights to images of Blackbeard's sunken flagship intensifying, lawmakers waded into the fray by taking up legislation aimed at a shipwreck-exploration company suing the state for $8 million. "In Intersal's...
Howdy Y'all ! My name is Rico and I am an incurable treasure hunter. Its a form of OCD that I picked up while living in Marathon back in the 1980's shadowing Bobby Jordan's Castillian across Coffin's Patch ( always at a respectable distance, mindful of the Admiralty Court ruling...) Used to...

Hey guys I'm new here but i think this is the only community that can help. I have 500 Spanish Reale recovered in the 1980's. I have narrowed it down that the shipwreck had to be from 1689 to 1860. The person who discovered the coins died later that year, so we cant get any information from him...
I received this pottery jar from my uncle who found it on the beach in the US Virgin Islands after a storm in the 1950s. He collected seashells, net floats and anything that washed up while he lived there. I don' know what it is or what it is worth. On the "What is it" forum, someone suggested...

On November 27, 1960, the Liberian freighter Francisco Morazan came to grief at the south end of South Manitou Island, Lake Michigan, in a blinding snowstorm. There are some 150 shipwrecks in The Manitou Passage - from the Fox Islands to South Manitou, and between the Manitous and the mainland...
I am always particularly interested in sunken treasure stories that are new - the stories that are more than just re-hashes and repeats of the tired sea yarns.
Some years ago while reading Capt. William Bligh's book I came across:

This day anchored in the road the General...

Hello, all. I have enjoyed the photos on this site for a couple of years now. Forgive me for lurking and in advance for any newbie breaches of forum etiquette. I have gathered quite a few "treasures" over my years, but very little official knowledge as far as identification for a lot of them. I...
[THIS THREAD HAS BEEN SOLVED]
Hello TreasureNet community,
I've recently posted this same query to another forum and this was one of the places to which I was referred that might yield better results in my identification of this piece that I came across in an old collection of mine. I will...
HELLO FORUM!
I was directed here by the WHAT IS IT? forum. My name is Charlie G. & I own Joy's House (www.joyshouse.info); a sober house for girls I opened in my daughter's memory. To help support it, I go to & bid on storage auctions (yep, like the TV ahows!), then sell the things we find at...
Hello all!
I won a storage auction that was full of items that appear to gave been brought up from a shipwreck!
The jar (which still has 80% of it's cap) is holding what appears to be musket balls - it is VERY heavy.
But what I can't be sure of is the clump of what looks like more musket balls...
A mate of mine found this, didn't say where and it looked interesting so I took a couple of pics - he doesn't really do the internet.
Anyway, from looking through google it seems to be some kind of escudo, possible an 8 escudo piece? I would really appreciate an expert opinion on year and any...
Hope this isn't old news. This is one I've been expecting to be found for years. Hope the legends are true! Congrats to the finder! :hello2:
Cargo of gold and whiskey fuels legend of the Westmoreland, famous shipwreck discovered by diver from Grand Rapids | MLive.com
Directly seaward of the Sunrise water tower, in about 60-65 feet of water, lies the wreck of the yacht Monomy. The Monomy is pretty much a flat wreck, just a big debris field, but is, at least was, covered with copper coated bronze shipbuilding pins, bronze/brass valves, and assorted other cool...
Ive been exploring Canvey Island, in Essex, UK and came across a patch of ground covered in very old rusted nails and fixings, a hinge etc. The area is outside a Yacht Club, where there is shallow water and mad flats. The only explanation i can come up with is that a ship wreck used to be there...
