Hi, I inherited this coin from my grandfather.
I took it in to a specialist and he told me that the coin is VERY soft
He's opinion on it is there is a precious metal in it.
Everyone on here is saying it's bronze. I have had three ppl look at it and
They are saying it feels like gold or maybe some other precious metal.
The weight and softness are very odd considering this coin is very old and they didn't have palladium rhodium or platinum at the time. Or so people think. But who really knows?
Take a look.. I can't find ANYTHING on the internet that is identical. Not at all.
The coin has an S and a C on the back side. And if you look at the face of the coin and check his neck line it might help.
What's it worth.? Even if it turns out to be bronZe or brass(which it may be) but it's super soft as I said. U can easily scratch the sides on something ruff like porcelain that's not glossed it leaves behind a gold looking layer .
Check it out........
