Roman Wulf Head Pendant

After we had snow the whole friday i had to go out to the new site today. We had lots of wind yesterday so there wasn't too much snow on the open field. Still too much for efficient detecting, i tried to find the hot spot in this field which had a roman homestead or smaller settlement. Got the usual WWII brass stuff, a little lead, fragment of a silver plated cross, horse harness mount, coin scrappie, roman mount of some kind and a wulf headed pin. Surely the find of the day.
I love these days out! :laughing7:

Unusual & cool. It looks complete? Why a pin? looks like a big pendant but not one I've ever seen!

Reminds me of the Dacian wolf windsock?

I think the loop would be different, if it were a pin, however, as I have only guesses, I would love to know!

Smart piece in great condition again, your year for condition is happening!

Thanks Cru! I had only a few roman coins in fair condition apart from the silver, the rest was completly eaten up by fertilizer. But the relics showed up in amazing condition!

Nice, but i think its not Roman...

Great work again Lu. I know nothing but could it be part of a latch? the tail being the male end of a connection and the head with hole under it for a pin or clasp? The mid section formed to fit around something as a pole or gun barrel? From the pictures it looks like it was made that way for a reason. Really cool find.

You are dedicated sir, I take it the ground isn't frozen. Detecting in the snow, man I snivel at a little frost.

Killer finds, I love seeing what new finds you guy's are finding across the pond!..........................HH

Now that's a thing of beauty. I love that pin! Would love to know the story behind that one. Great digs and congratulations. HH
