After digging $10 worth of (40) QUARTERS 2 days ago -- I went back and found $8 (32) quarters, $2 (20) more dimes and 6 pennies, a total of $10.06 plus a .925 small sterling signet ring with the "scripted" initials of MJB on it. The yellow "laugh till you cry" charm was a surface find. Found in less than 4 hours hunting. Thanks for looking. HAPPY HUNTING everyone

How do you MD on a soccer complex?

Good question I hunt the huge area of "green space" & bleachers around the fields - around the concession & bath-rooms building & picnic tables - parking lots and "practice field" areas that I have permission from the complex manager......We are both ex-military.....and there is a ton of green space in these areas where the majority of the viewers drop coins congregate. They also sit on blankets & lawn chairs etc.

They get a little mad if they see you on the marked playing fields and I also got blamed for digging holes on them but quickly pointed out that they had an Armadillo problem.

Yes, you are correct the Armadillo's love the white grubs underground near the top level of the soil under the grass roots here in Florida. They also tear up my yard. I also retrieve the vast majority of my targets near the surface and even in some cases 4 to 6 inches with just an old 8" screwdriver without plugging. I don't use any type of large "plugging cutting" trowel for recovery, but after 48 years of this and nearly 250,000 coins I can pin point & retrieve a target(by using the TRX Pinpointer) within a half-dollar size area, by reaching in with my fingers, and leave a very small signature of my retrieval. I am sure most experienced "dirt diggers" are able to do this too or could do this with practice.......Of course in very old areas and on deeper targets I use a "hunting knife" for plugging very small plugs for removal, so that I do not damage a good or old possible target..... Thanks for your comment, my friend.

Soccer fields are great places to hunt. The ones in my area are all unfenced and used mostly on weekends. So I hit them on week days. Looks like you had a very productive hunt.

That's a lot of digging, congratulations! :occasion14:

Good clad haul....I love the soccer fields and most of the time come away with a good clad total and the occasional sterling ring.

Nice totals can you imagine finding an old old soccer field or baseball and all those were silver That's what Im hoping some day Well done

Nice haul, congrats on the silver ring... "D"

Hey, Tommy......Good comment, my friend -- Because, YES I can imagine that because I started metal detecting in 1971 and the VAST majority(about 90%) of dimes, quarters, half dollars and yes even Silver Morgan & Peace Dollars that I found then over 48 years ago was actually SILVER......What FUN.....but there were NO soccer fields back then in my area just very old "football fields" and baseball fields and even to this day the most coins I have ever found in 1 day hunting has been on an older football field and also finding "Seated & Barber" silver, etc. on very old baseball fields......Oh my YES the "Good Old Days"......HAPPY HUNTING Everyone!
