The Cru'team does it again! Yesterday Cru'Dad suggested his plan A & I suggested mine, so in the end we did both in one day.
The first 3 hours of the day we went with Cru'Dads plan of covering a small low yield Roman Site, & then onto a nearby area where we had a few Saxon Brooches. I thought this a good idea as the Roman site had only been covered once & I wanted to try a new deep program on the nearby Saxon area. The conditions where not great & the 4 inch turn had just been left, so we only managed 4 scrappies & the Saxon area was a bust. Picture No.1. (2 good buttons, 1 mid-19th C Royal Artillery Mess Dress Button - I Need)

After lunch we went to an area I wanted to grid, its been on my mine for awhile but it was a high risk gamble, we had only really found 1 hammered in the past, but I thought with a 1/2 day we should get the 1 hammered I was hoping for. I never thought our 2.5 hour grid would turn up so many good finds;

1943 Sixpence
1797 Penny
Lead Token
Rose Farthing
Early English Jetton - Type I've never seen!
My first Medieval Iron Arrow Head
Broken late/post medieval Sword Belt Hook
Nice early 13th-14th C Buckle with biting beasts - A first!
Cut Short-cross hammered
Charles I Halfgroat
Edward the Confessor Penny 1059-62 โ€‹-
Moneyer - Godwine
Mint - Huntingdon

Now that is an awesome piece of silver!!! Holy smokes Cru!!

Great combined efforts, hard to say what I like most. Like to see the iron point after conservation.

I'm not sure what to do with it, it looks like if I took it back to bare metal there will be nothing left, so I'm thinking about sealing it.

It's always when you don't expect much that the magic happens.
What a hunt
Congrats

Amazing hunt! Big congratulations!

What a beautiful Penny! The buckle is more than cool too and an arrowhead out of ploughed soil... :icon_thumright:

What a beautiful crisp Edward, one for the books.
Congrats on silver, buckle, and the copper.

I think I will be O.K.. Just some minor bruising from falling out of my chair after seeing this post. It is a real treat just to view your amazing near thousand year old silver coin. It is a major find. Congratulations are in order. Bravo !

You outdid yourself today sir. Congrats!

Some awesome finds. Congrats on a great hunt.

Awesome finds. So hard for me to comprehend the stuff you find. Hundreds and hundreds of years older than the modern stuff over here. Congrats! :occasion14:

Thanks for all the comments.

Nice to see you and your Dad pulling a few silvers from these sites Cru. :occasion14:
I know a lot of guys don't really consider this type of find interesting, but I love the detail work that went into toys back in the 40s & 50s.
