Went back to the "Hollow" yesterday, the same area where we think they is (may have been) a wreck to see if the swells from Bertha shifted anything around.

It was good to find an uncovered, fully intact bottle! very fragile with hairline cracks. not sure how much longer this would have lasted being exposed on the seabed 60ft down :dontknow:

I just love the "curvy" lines of handmade glass! :occasion14:

It even seems to have the remains of the cork? (maybe just sea debris though!)

Found the usual assortment of shot and nails as well as a weird "hammer" shaped thing - will see how it cleans up today!

Found two buttons too - shame no markings are visible and the clasps have eroded away, but it gives added evidence to what's possibly down there! :skullflag:

Thanks for looking!

The gift that keeps on giving.

Looking more promising all the time.

Grats again BVI

I kept shouting todays-the-day! but all that came out was bubbles :laughing7:

the site has potential for sure!

Nice digs and thanks for those pictures

That 'hammer' like thing looks a bit like a faucet head or spigot.
You are doing it again. Cleaning the BVI for the rest of the tourists. Nice job!

Congrats Captain! Those are some nice and very old finds! It appears that you are on the verge of another big haul of coins or more sewer pipes.:happysmiley:

Thanks Frank!

I need more silver so I can buy that cabin.......

Now your talking, great finds and I would say that you are in to a late 1700s to early 1800s site. You keep looking and your going to find more goodies. Congrats.
Oh yea, you could have some of the cork left in the bottle, I have found many with it still in there. I guess they didn't have cork screws back in the day.

thanks Dave,

yes that time period would seem about right.

shame I cant get some big ass blowers over that spot!!! I'm sure there plenty more deeper down!

thanks - its so fragile, I think another day or two and it would have been in pieces!

Real cool bottle !!! 60 ft down, I probably couldn't hold my breath that long...:laughing7: I'd have to use a 54 foot long snorkel tube.

After watching shark week I'd probably be afraid to go in deeper than my ankles.

I have Freedive'd to 40 ft - not the place to have a panic attack that's for sure :laughing7:

I've watched the shows where they use those blowers to clear away the sand to find the treasure. Wonder how you would fix something up like that if you had an outboard motor and small boat? Watched a video on you tube where a guy used a sea scooter to blow away sand and mud down to bedrock in a small stream, but it wouldn't be feasible in your situation.
I'd love to find an old bottle like that and glad you rescued it before it was a total loss. Happy & safe hunting.
