Met up with Max early today to hit low tide. We started at the "Cave of Edmond Dantes" in OV. I wasn't having much luck so I pushed a bit west and hunted the rocks at low tide. Max ended up staying at the cave and had a good day there. The rocks were VERY productive as you will see in the pictures! Pulled over a dozen lead fishing weights, assorted pull tabs and canslaw. Some old copper pipe, a giant washer and other assorted crap.

The best finds of the day were GOLD ring #3 (14k 2.7 grams):20130418_152414.jpg

What appears to be a GOLD (Hopefully) dental bridge/prosthesis. It LOOKS gold (but with a bit of a brassy shine) tested it from 10k to 24k and the acid didn't lift it off the stone so does that mean 24k?

Lastly, this 925 (marked) silver skull...weighs in at 13.9 grams

All in all a good day, we'll see what tomorrow brings!

Wow. Now that's a productive day! Regarding the dental piece... I would think that's its not 24k because gold becomes softer the higher it gets in purity. It would have to be a lower karat for such use as a dental piece.

You are probably right. Still not even sure if its even gold.....what other metals would they use for dental work?

Very nice finds:icon_thumright: Congratulations on the gold:icon_thumright:

Well first off, I would not want that thing in my mouth. Second, pretty soon you can start your own store selling fishing weights and possibly get a subsidy from the gov. cause you are pulling lead contamination out of the ocean and recycling it. Third, nice ring there and a good save! All in all a good day out of the house..............63kpkr

Great finds... Dental piece is a great display item at the very least! If it's gold... Melt that miserable looking thing:). The previous owner would probably thank you!

congrats on the ring. Someone may want that dental thing! ugh

Great finds! The dental piece is kind of creepy, but the skull is really cool! Hmm... What does that say about me? Hahahaha!
