I got out for a little while on my dinner break and was goofing off hunting behind the job site.found a dime and a couple of pennies nothing old. Then I got a pretty deep signal and dug this badge.I first thought it might be a kids badge.Took and brushed it off and seen the special police on it.I scratched the back of it a little trying to get it out of the hole.was trying to hurry only get 30 min break. To bad the one point is bent back on the bottom, but you get what ya get.I got to looking it up and found one like it,recon they used them in the 1920s till 1940.Now I don't really know if that's right or not.Haven't really had time yet to really check it out.Maybe later I can get more info on it.THANKS FOR PEEKING.

John Boy, Congrats on a killer find. I have collected badges for over 35 years and I can say with certainty that yours is a real lawman badge. Your estimate of the dates of use are correct, it could even be a few decades earlier. Most Special Police badges were worn during WW1 and WW2. Yours has an early "spring" pin and a "tongue" catch, indicative of those years. I see that the ball tip on the bottom point of the star is still there! With some careful massage, you or a jeweler can get it back in position. Way to go. Sub

Nice Badge John boy - Awsome find

Cool find. I've yet to find a badge of any type!

Sweet find ! I found one just like that about 4 years ago . It's still one of my favorites :headbang:
