I went back to Hamilton Bay in southern Ontario to see if I could capture another photo of an osprey catching a silver bass. I wasn’t disappointed this time. I was standing on a bridge watching the ospreys flying over head when one started diving straight down and into the water and coming out with a chunky catfish. Suddenly he turned toward me and did a fly-by and I was ready and captured this one. DB4EF738-990E-4CBC-A041-36337943A853.webp

That is cool, great shot!!

Beautiful capture! :occasion14:

I'm curious; what camera did you use? I'm guessing
a higher end DSLR?

Hi, I was using a Canon 5d mkiii with a Canon 300mm f2.8 Ver.ii prime lens.

That's a beautiful shot. Are you a professional photographer?

Beautiful, to say the least. Nature and all its glory

Awesome!!....Before I was into photography, I used to watch the ospreys catching catfish just like that out of the mill pond where I worked.....Noticed every time that they position the fish head first in the same direction of travel while flying away with it.

Great osprey pic! I fish a spring fed lake that's stocked with trout and the local osprey seems to be the only one taking any fish out of there! Amazing to watch them dive bomb the water and then take off again!

Awesome shot of an awesome creature.

Man what a great pic! :o

I had to Google 'Hamilton Bay'... I assume you're referring to the Bayfront Park area.

I did weddings for 30 years on weekends while working at General Motors.

I just read your response to Doubter in MD and had to share a find with you that I made last year.
I've lived in Oshawa for the past 22 years, so when I learned about the closing of the GM plant here it really upset me.

Anyway, I don't mean to take away from your amazing post here my friend. :notworthy:
I ended up giving it to the property owner.

Nice timing!
yes it was. I was just about ready to leave when I saw the splash. I was surprised when he turned and and came my way. I’m happy he did.

Yes your right. I noticed that they hook the talons near the gill.

Thanks SD51. I could watch them all day.
