Ground Finds

Hasn't been a good week thus far, as the snow put a little damper on things. Between the plowing and the salting finding coins is a bit of a chore until last night. Got to Monmouth Consumer Center (The same one closed down for a bomb threat this past Sunday afternoon) Cleaned all the lots and left the Taco Bell for last. Yup Taco Bell rang up my total and chimed in with $0.24 cents, all under the cashiers window :tongue3:

total $2.48

Thanks Bill, If I get time off this week, I'll take it to a place for some cash. I also have a nice HTC phone, but that was found in Dec, so I can't add it to this year's total, but I will take the cash :laughing7:

Added just another penny last night. Looks like I'll just have to score big tonight, we're expecting another snowstorm Wednesday night, so no work :crybaby2:

Today, one clad quarter and 3 cents from the Chic-a-Flic drive thru. And another polite "sir, you can't be out there" from the window girl. I'll go back on Sunday. Chic-a-Flic is closed on Sunday's. I may bring my metal detector and check the half dozen picnic benches in their little park area. I'm now up to $2.07 cents.

Well boys, it's time to gain some distance on you. After all, it was only a matter of time before things started picking up nad last night was the night.

I had 8 scheduled stops and the first 6 were a complete waste. When I hit the 7th stop I found a penny in a McDonalds parking lot. Next started the curb line for the main stores, and voila a quarter. Next was to finish the last lot with a Rite Aid and that produced another penny. Off to my next stop where I ran into Hamilton, stuck in the corner spot by Burger King.

I was finished for the night and feeling good about these finds and headed back to the yard. While on our street, my mananger was in a sweeper coming towards me. He mentioned he had a VIP job for our largest account and would I help him. Needless to say, I made a u-turn and followed him. Being a large mall we split in 2 directions, I started all the curb lines, entrances/exits and they came to a lot adjoining his. Well, good old Georgie said hello, so I jumped out and put him in my pocket.

Last night gave me new hope with a total $11.27 :headbang:

YTD total $13. 76

I never planned to beat you in total, after all, I have only found 2 bills on the ground in my life.

Thanks to the rain and snow I'm sitting at home, no work :crybaby2:

Walk almost anywhere and you can find the paper currency. Of course parking lots are the best, especially in the winter when people are rushing to get into their warm cars. The money I found yesterday was on some of the jobs from my old route. These areas are better protected from wind through fencing, tree lines, and shrubs. One of my coworker's found two 20's in two separate lots, both buried under leaves.

I'll have to admit I have a great advantage over everyone here to begin with. I'm spending an average of 12 hours a night outside and of course I'm looking for money. That's the only benefit and perk this job offers.

Didn't have time to update this thread before today.

This is my kinda game. I ground score regularly. You HAVE TO LOOK.

Memorable, a near full PAck of Newport menthol cigarettes, with a joint inside. Don't worry, it was legal, because we are in Washington. I gave it to some people who smoke. They were excited.

I have found maybe 5 one dollar bills in the last 3 years.

Going to concerts, when its over, the lights turn on, I have found more packs of smokes. I need to be on the lookout for jewelry.

I have found several junk rings in the past 2 years, just looking down.

I have found one 14k gold ring, just looking down. No MD. That was beach hiking near seattle. Sold it and bought a MDer.

Again, most common item is packs of cigs. I know which packs yield. I just kick it a little, and whamo, I can tell if its loaded or not.

I'll post gold ring if you need me to.

I'll post gold ring if you need me to.

No need, this is strictly a scout's honor type of thing :occasion14: Found rings and a 14k Italian bracelet last year, I think I posted it here too :icon_scratch:

Last night I had to fill-in for another driver on my old route, needless to say, it was a decent night. Found 55 cents on 9 stops 2 quarters and 5 pennies. Ran out of cigarettes, so I stopped off at a local CVS and found 1 dime and 2 pennies on the sidewalk. total $0.67 yeepeeee

TYD $14.53

Found a few coins at Chic-a-flic last week. Posted I was going back Sunday (today) for a better look. Closed on Sundays. Knew I was dead when I saw the entire parking lot swept so clean you could eat off it. Eyeballed the service window area and down side curbs from the truck. Nothing. Went around back to walk and eyeball the little picnic area. Parked in back was a car with a couple necking with a serious lip lock. I almost stopped 'till they looked out at me. They were two Dude's. I kept on driving. To quote Stienfield, "not that there is anything wrong with it." Just decided I needed to be somewhere else.

On another note, my wife got a silver dime in change yesterday and I talked a Lowe's Cashier into giving me a no date Buffalo I saw in her register. Still eyeballing. Picking are slim.

Welcome to our game Coinfetcher. No need to post pic's.

I used to methodically check the change return on parking meters. No silvers, but a buck or two clad.

Knew I was dead when I saw the entire parking lot swept so clean you could eat off it.

And you're welcome too :laughing9:

P.S. Also note it can be the wind, it helps, or hurts me all night :tongue3: If it were windy that day, take a walk to see where the wind collects the liter, that's a prime place for paper currency :icon_thumright:

Off now, hope to have a really good night, 9 stops and some have been fruitful from the older route :headbang:

Have two locations where the west winds blows into a fence. Costco and a 7-11. Over the years I've plucked a few bills out of both. Five and tens was the biggest, with a few ones.

Hope your sweeper cab has a good heater. Am a couple hundred miles south of you and it's 20 with a 25mph wind blowing. To cold to walk to the mail box.

It surely has a heater that works well, but it's not much help when you have to change out bags, and blow of sidewalks :laughing7: I have to admit last night was pretty nasty, temps were between 17-20 degrees, and I think our wind was gusting a bit stronger. You definitely felt the cold each time you stepped out into the lot. :tongue3:

Doubt I'll get anything tonight, bad sites for the whole evening. I have one possibility, but I don't want to get my hopes up either. My best scores were on my old route where I averaged just over $1 a week in coins alone.

Got a quarter and a nickle for my troubles though.

YTD $14.83

Found a quarter, 2 nickles and tow cents last night. I'm on a roll :headbang:

YTD $15.20

On Friday, I found a coin jar with cents at school. I found the owner today, and he allowed me to keep it.
