Hi

In the last post I made, I can't insert the image online. It uploads OK as an attached thumbnail but won't insert. Even if I go to the advanced editing options, use the attachment manager to manually insert it (and remember to click 'save'), it still remains as an attached thumbnail only. It's not a large image.

Is there a temporary glitch?

The thread concerned is here:

Let me see if I can insert an image that I have posted before...

I see that after inserting the pic, I didn't see that it was attached. After clicking on "Post Quick Reply" I now see that the pic of the leaf spring was attached.

Thanks but the issue is not about whether the picture can be seen... it's about whether the picture can be inserted rather than just attached as a thumbnail at the bottom. Your post above only shows it to be attached as a thumbnail... not inserted... and that's the problem I have.

Up until yesterday, it was possible for me to insert pictures in 'full' size (scaled to fit the forum) at appropriate points in a thread. Today I couldn't do it. The picture can be seen, but only as a thumbnail at the bottom of the text as in your post. The options for inserting pictures are there, but selecting them didn't work.

All my pictures attach as thumbnails. But, if you click on them they open in another window(?) and, depending on the file size can be enlarged by clicking on them. I think the only way to get a full size picture is to use a host site like photobucket. The following pics are of the same rose. The first one has been resized but the second one has not. Try clicking on them aand see what happens.

Hmmm - let me give it a try...

I will Insert (using Insert Image) the letter A (100X100) A_100_100.jpg and now I will Insert the letter B (500X500)B_500_500.jpg. Is this what you are trying to do?

This is the Insert Image I am talking about:

Thanks, the other responders have misunderstood what I'm saying. That's exactly what I'm trying to do. That option has consistently worked fine for me until two days ago. Now it doesn't work. My pictures upload OK as thumbnail attachments but can no longer be inserted within the body text of a thread. Not even if I then use the advanced editing via the attachment manager.

Here I'm going to try and insert a picture:

HERE

But I bet it will only appear as a thumbnail attachment below:

I will say this... sometimes image insertion can be funky :)

OK - let me give your image a try...

1. 1.jpg Select Insert Image
2. 2.jpg Insert Image from computer (Select FROM COMPUTER and then CHOOSE FILE and then upload)
3. Fail.jpg Here is your image.

Is this the same thing you are doing?

Thanks. Yes... that's exactly what I'm doing, but as of two days ago it no longer works. Even after a failure, if I edit the post using "Go Advanced" and then "Manage Attachments" to try and manually insert the picture, then that doesn't work either.

I'm using Microsoft Edge, which hasn't had a very recent update as far as I'm aware. Is it possible the forum software has had a recent update that has created an incompatibility with my browser such that the feature is no longer supported?

My attachment manager shows I have 11 pages of pictures (10 per page). Have I reached some kind of limit that means the feature is now disabled? I'm reluctant to delete any of those images without knowing what effect it might have on posts that already contain them.

Attachment Manager? Are you saying when you go into GO ADVANCED and scroll down - is this what you are seeing?

Is this where you are seeing them:

If you are seeing them here - try removing one.

No, you still aren't getting what I'm trying to say. The pictures you're showing are NOT INSERTED! What 'inserted' means is that the image is placed where you want it within the body text of the post.

That means you can post something like:

Nice find. I think you have a sprocket valve from a tractor pinion. A bit like this one in brass which dates to the early 20th Century and was made by 'Sprockets-R-Us' in Birmingham, England to fit the 'Acme' turnip furrower:

[Relevant picture #1 INSERTED]

It's possible it might be the later Mark II version from circa 1930 which was made under license by 'Crockets Sprockets' of Alabama. You can tell them apart because the Mark II has a double grunion link underneath the hatch plate. Like this:

[Relevant picture #2 INSERTED]

Hope that helps.

I could arrange a post like that up until two days ago. What I get now (and can't change) is this:
