After a couple of days taking part in the Christmas visits, today we headed out for a festive swing, despite the 40 mph winds and drizzle it was great to be out. We went to the field that is alleged to contain a Roman Villa, just outside the village, alas no Roman treasure but plenty of pre dec coins. 🤔

I found another Crotal bell, and smart little buckle, then a decorative piece, a lovely lead roll, modern buckle, a livery button tap handle and square nail, 1865, 1895, 1920 and a 1921 penny, one toasted coin and a 1953 Three pence.

I hope you all have a fab Christmas and New Year, and as ever thank you for your IDs, comments, liking my posts etc .. Festive Hugs xx Blossom and Himself xx 🤗 🎅 🎉

A little bell for the Christmas tree, looks like an older type.
Beautiful buckle that is for sure.
The silver wash button has the !8th century look, some detail left on the crown/Peacock for an ID.
Those big pennies are in fine shape, so nice and green.
Liking the the festive props, the talents shine through once again.
So Merry Christmas blossom and to Himself-tip a glass of cheers ya hear.

Congrats.
Quite the mix. Nice. And a wonderful setting!

Someone put a value on that humble lead roll. Possibly multiple hands before yours.
Ahh RC You know I love a lead roll, haven’t found one for ages xx

the setting is gorgeous except some fool put the telephone cables right thru the picture 🙄 honestly 🙄 xx

Yes the livery button is the Rutland Peacock, shame the other one is broken it’s a pretty one. Ahh thanks Peps…. and to you and the long suffering Mrs Peps xx 😆 xx 🤗

Merry Christmas! excellent finds! and way to get out there, have seen those lead scrolls being unrolled on UK(dreamland) youtube mudlarking channels and they can sometimes contain a curse..! maybe wait untill after Christmas to open that one.. Cheers!

40 mph winds?! That must have made it quite chilly for you. But it looks like the hunt yielded some nice recoveries.

Hope you and himself had a very happy Christmas!

Very nice outing and finds!
I like the church being built in a bit of a glen. Must have been some protection from chilly winds, vs being on the hillock. Quite picturesque.
