I got an email that I'm a lucky winner of tickets to go to the popular Antiques Roadshow coming to Littleton, Colorado May 29th. 😊. I'm gonna take these English chambersticks I purchased at a thrift store in 2020. I haven't decided what my second item will be yet. https://www.treasurenet.com/threads/my-silver-haul.644684/#post-6632447
I hadn't cleaned these chambersticks since I purchased them, so I'm getting them ready for the show and I must say they sure will look pretty when both are finished. I wonder what they'll appraise for? Last time Antiques Roadshow was going to be in Colorado my daughter won tickets and we were excited to get to go, but the covid dealeo canceled it. 😔 Hopefully nothing like that will happen this time.

Wow, that's awesome. I'll keep an eye out for you. I live that show.

Congratulations! That is awesome. My daughter and I have been trying for three years to get tickets. No luck so far. I have at least three things I would like to have looked at. Two of them are real mysteries and I more interested in information than I am in value. Value wouldn't be bad though.

Some people apply at all the events scheduled so the can sell the tickets, so there is that option if you know where to look. The family applied for 5 total tickets and I was the only one to received a win. I did attend one in Salt Lake City some years back. Paintings and prints had a huge line waiting to be appraised I recall. Seems a lot of folks are curious about their art. Most I'm pretty sure had little value.

Last Wednesday me and my middle daughter went to the Antiques Roadshow at Chatfield Farms in Littleton, Colorado. It was a wonderful afternoon. The German factory made violin was from the 1920s-30s, and it apprised at $1200. to $1500., but then the appraiser said would you like me to tell you about the bows. Sure I said, as I didn't think much of those. He removed one and looked down it and said it has a slight curve, which it can be straighten out. He then said this is a pernambuco wood bow and its worth a thousand dollars. The other bow wasn't anything special. We then went to the jewelry tent. The rock crystal brooch she said was worth $1500. to $2000 and it was carved from a natural rock crystal. It's a Victorian morning piece in her opinion. A little 18k gold and diamond ring my grandad found digging in his garden in the 1930s was from around the 1870s and worth $300 to $400. The gold and color stone bracelet she appraised at $2500. to $3000. My daughter also had a pearl necklace I gave her, which was one I picked up some time ago. She said it was a beautifully matched colors and graduated, set of Akoya pearls, worth around $300. to $350. Last I did the silver chambersticks. The appraisar Sebastian Clarke first read a copy I took of Red Coats statement and said he agrees with it all. He said individually these would be worth $750. each. Together as a set they might be worth $2500. as a pair. He also said in a specialized auction they could go as high as $5000. for the pair. He described my find as picking all 6 numbers of the lottery, plus hitting the power ball, because they've got all the correct pieces intact. He said that is rare to find out in the wild with such antiques. Condition he said was superb. According to the folks involved with the show, Colorado broke the record of applicants for tickets. Over 21000 applied and only 2000 tickets are issued. I did learn something from an older lady in line. You can purchase tickets for a donation to PBS of $500. I also heard the show in Arkansas only had 700 applicants, so all 700 who applied got tickets to go.

Well done on the pieces you had appraised.
Amazing number of applicants for tickets.

This was my second time of going. I went to one in Salt Lake City a few years ago. It was not so fun. I believe it was a February indoors and you couldn't take pictures and they herded you out as soon as you got your appraisals. This was fun and you could walk around all over, take pictures and see and talk to others there aboutwhatthey brought. I wasn't asked to talk on camera, probably because I'm not the kind of personality they're looking for. It's kinda the same reason no attorney will ever sellect me for a juror in a trial in the times I've been summon for jury duty.

That sounds like a great time and good news on the appraisals! Your great eye has certainly paid off.
Thanks HT. It was sure fun. This is the Akoya pearl necklace I gave my daughter. It was appraised at $300. by this lady Jill Burgum. https://www.ha.com/c/about.zx?id=12 who's kind of a regular on the show. She said is was absolutely lovely and perfectly match. Sadly pearls aren't in fashion so much these days. I think I gave like 8 bucks for it and I've yet to see another like it in the secondhand market. The little 14k gold with single pearl pendant is one she bought on her own and has the Mikimoto (M) on the back. She's taking after me in the quest to locate and buy cheap as possible the unwanted treasures found from time to time.
