We Found a Virgin Civil War Site...And We Can Prove It

Awesome finds and research guys! Looks like the tip of the iceberg and should keep you busy for a very long time. HH, Mike

Great relics. I know you were happey when they came out of the hole.

Nice digs!! With the pulled three ringers... thinking picket post maybe?? I have had great luck hitting the maps and looking for the hih ground around the "dug out" camps around here... 3 of the 5 plates I have dug in the last 18 months came form picket post soooo they can be really productive!!! Keep it up!!!

Congrats on some great finds. Those sites are still out there , never give up on them! WTG

I know I posted in this thread but it must not have taken. Hey fellows, congradulations on the plate. That is the ultimate rush for a relic hunter. And just think, the second one comes even sooner. Get back in there and get the breast plate and the belt plate. Also, nice bunch of bullets you found. There are two types of cleaners you got there.

:icon_cheers: SCORE!

OH my gosh! TY! GREAT research!!! FANTASTIC finds!!! That smile says it all!

Many congrats! Nana :)

Congratulations!!! I wish you more wonderful finds from this site. I'm jealous!

Thanks Doug! We are still learning a few new trick!!!

Since I don't live anywhere near a civil war site, my only shot would be to find the homes of the veterans. But anyway, when you were going over your list of things you found, you said Williams Cleaner. What is that? A barrel cleaner of some sort?

Very nice! Congratulations on finding that camp and the plate!

Steve

That's what I like to see.

Research Paying off in a Big way.

Congrats !

Keep us updated.

Yes Cowboy, a Williams cleaner is a bullet with a ring of zinc in it.
The zinc ignites upon firing and cleans the barrel as it goes through
it. This is the first one I've ever found or seen that still has remains
of the zinc on it.

How close are you guys to Leesburg, VA? The battle of Ball's Bluff? I have a thought or two on where to recover a few hundred muskets..... maybe. I'm serious! I've been there and done some research but I don't live in the area. No way to follow up. Check out my profile and send an e-mail. I'll tell you what I got. Or no. That's up to you. BTW, good work! TTC

If I recover a few hundred muskets, i will personally load them in my truck, and drive half of them to you. Even better, if I recover more than 10, the offer still stands

Love the Civil war Buckle! :) Now you don't have to buy one if you are into collecting civil war items! :)
