This was the last denomination I hadn't ever searched so a couple of years ago I decided to repeatedly pester banks for any small dollars they had to try to complete the various series released since 1979.
The series:
Susan B Anthony (1979-1981, 1999) 11 different, 3 are NIFC
Sacagawea (2000-2008) 18 different, 14 are NIFC
Presidential (2007-2016, 2020) 80 different, 40 are NIFC
Native American (2009-present) 30 different, 24 are NIFC
American Innovation (2018-present) 42 different, all are NIFC
The above totals do not include the eventual 2024 releases.
In other words, out of all 181 possible small dollar finds, 123 (68%) are NIFC. In addition, the American Innovation series are extremely low mintage, in most cases less than half a million each, yet I still found a decent amount. Proofs also turned up now and then.
These are my results from over $20K searched from 2022-23:
TOTAL SMALL DOLLARS FOUND: 139 out of 181 (77%)
NIFC FOUND: 81 out of 123 (66%)
SBA: All but 1981-D
SAC: All but 2006-D & 2008-D
PRES: All but 2013-D (Wilson), 2014-D (Harding), 2016PD (Reagan)
NAT AM: All but 2012PD, 2015-D, 2018-P, 2020-P, 2022-P, 2023-P
AM INNOV: 2018-D, 2019PD (DE), 2019PD (PA), 2019-D (NJ), 2019-D (GA), 2020-P (SC), 2021-D (NH), 2021PD (VA), 2021PD (NC), 2022-P (TN)
PROOFS: 2001-S (Sac), 2008-S (Sac), 2007-S Pres (Washington x2), 2007-S Pres (Jefferson), 2008-S Pres (Jackson), 2008-S Pres (JQ Adams x2), 2009-S Pres (Tyler x3), 2009-S Pres (Polk), 2011-S Pres (Garfield), 2014-S Pres (Harding), 2013-S (Nat Am)
LARGE DOLLARS: Sometimes asking for dollar coins got me the big boys. I scored several hundred in Ikes over the months, which I sell to a coin show dealer for a slight profit. No silver, 1973's or proofs though. My best find was a 1900-O Morgan.
MISC: A few Canadian Loon dollars along with a couple of other foreigns, plus a Sacagawea token.
