Already mentioned on this site are the more well known tales of the CSA raid on the St. Albans banks(to my knowledge the loot was never recovered), Camels Hump gold, and the Bristol money-diggings, But I think many more exist.
The Rooks gold mine: located off Rt. 100 in Plymouth 5-corners, Abandoned late 19th century mine site.
Old 19th century hotel sites on Camels Hump in Duxbury, and Snake Mountain in Addison. Maps and directions on the web.
1944 crash site of B-24 bomber on Camels Hump.
5-mile point: located on the lake shore in the Bridport- Shoreham area, a favored campsite and ambush site of Maj. Robert Rogers and his Rangers. Directly across the lake from Ti paper mill.
Hope that has started to stir some more interest in Vt., and to start to make the winter doldrums go away.
