I started metal detecting in the winter of 2017, and in six years, I've found some really cool stuff. A Confederate staff officers button, four different varieties of large cents, an ancestors musket... but no silver coins. On Monday, I finally broke the drought!

I detected the picnic area of a local church and popped out my first silver, a 1941 Mercury dime in decent condition. But that wasn't the only first I made!

A 1928 Buffalo nickel!

A nazi german reichspfenig!

And a gold plated ring!

Also found a weird spoon thing with an attachment device on the back.

A few days ago, I made these finds. My first ring, Crotal Bell, 1919 Wheaties and an 1878 IHP.

All in all, it was a great couple of days off. Now I have to get back to work.

Congrats on the Mercury Dime Rusty, it's in really great shape.
Also well done in the other recoveries the crotal bell is a beauty.
The spoon is a different recovery, is the clip just attached on the one end?
If it is then for what purpose-pocket or a bookmark?
Well done on the first ring also, looks like you found a good site to gather up some firsts.

Way to go Rusty !! Congrats on the beautiful merc. And all the other wonderful relics !!

Great looking finds, I think that 78 is a key date or near key date, I think any IH that's close to the 77 is a great fined. !!

I've been thinking Rusty.....maybe you've opened the silver flood gates for yourself. They say once you break the ice, it gets easier !! Congrats and good luck....I see more silvers in your future !!

Congratulations on your first silver coin and the other cool finds. Thanks for sharing the good news.

fan DIME tastic and, I agree, the flood gates are open and the silver will come easier now. If you've got old dirt to detect, you'll have silver #2 in the next few hunts.
Grats and thanks for sharing.

Congratulations on your first silver coin! :icon_thumleft:
Plus from the looks of it, not to mention some of the other finds you've told us about, you're doing really well.

You found a Nazi coin here in America?! I'm sure that coin has a fascinating story. Probably a GI's souvenir.
