This was a surface find several years ago at a wildlife preserve in St.Charles County, Missouri that was a town until the 1940's when the grabbermint displaced the residents for the construction of a munitions plant with ties to the Manhattan Project. The flood of 1993 devastated the area so it's possible this is a remnant of an earlier time that was uncovered after the flood waters receded.
Can anyone identify the hallmark and approximate year it was made? I have looked at several sites with no luck. Thanks!

The older the item the harder it is to find info on the maker from my experience. It says sterling at least so it should be 925. The hallmark looks like two lions holding a W.

Old post I know, but that’s a nice old spoon and the mark is for the Wendell Mfg. Co. of Chicago. They originally made jewellery as Wendell & Co. from 1885 and then became the Wendell Mfg. Co. from 1890-1900 to focus on sterling flatware and holloware production. The spoon is their ‘Athenia’ pattern, introduced in 1890.
