What can anyone tell me about these rifle shell casings? found at a site where I also found some shotgun casings from the 1920's to 1940's. One just says DEN and 42 (which I understand is probably the year). The other says U.S.C. Co. and 33 W.C.F. under that. Bullet size on both look to be about 8mm, but, that end has some damage, so, hard to measure exactly. DEN cartridge length is 2 1/2" long, USC is 2 1/8" long.

The one on the right is a 30-30 Winchester. The WCF standing for Winchester Center Fire. The 33 presumably short for 30-30
The one on the left is from Denver Ordinance, thus the DEN. And 42 is probably the year of manufacturer.

What's the U.S.C. Co. mean? United State Cartridge Company? Did they make them for Winchester? Any year range on it?
