Restoring Cast Iron Skillets

I have two cast iron skillets that have caked on black junk and are flaking does anybody know the best way to restore them give me your advice and info people please I want to be able to cook in them again the first one is an Ozark Trail and the next one is from Taiwan here are some images the first 3 are the Ozark Trail and the next 4 is the Taiwan one

On mine I put some veg oil in it let it soak then sprinkle lots of salt in it and scrub with a paper towel. Wipe it clean again. And re oil it lightly and put in the oven to season it again. I never use soap on my cast iron.

Same here. If crusty, I add enough water to cover bottom and heat (not boil) on the stove. This loosens the crud. Pour off the water and scour with course salt, then exactly what Marino13 said. My final step is usually a coating of shortening then into a 170 degree oven for a while.
