Greetings,

I've been detecting around an old farmstead, and have come across 5 (so far) horseshoe looking chunks of iron. For the size, I'll assume their draft horse shoes. They've got traction bars on the top, this I know. What's throwing me off is the pointed ends. Anyone have any insight into this?

Just an iffy guess. Hores shoes are individually fitted by a ferrier. Perhaps those are stock that wern't used.

My money is that they are a modified horse shoe that was made to work as a log dog. A log dog holds 2 pieces of wood together temporarily.
