No trick to it. Just compose & pre focus hit the self timer & run around & get in the picture. You have about 10 sec. Help's to have a tripod. LOL!

If your camera is digital, zoom out and crop it later. Up the file size a little, too.

I use the auto timer for closeups of coins using a tripod. Otherwise they tend to be out of focus.
Are you driving a 1960 corvette now?

If you are trying to get a reasonable close up then you have to focus/set up the camera on some object that you wil run to after setting the self timer. Otherwise should be able to get into a picture that you are focusing farther away without too much grief. The trick is with the small digital cameras - activating the timer without moving the camera. You have to find a shelf or log or something to prop it on.

Thanks for the good advice, guys. I guess I'll just have to start experimenting with it. I'll let you know how it works. :) ::)
