Let's combine remote control with MDing

The idea works in principle, but working out the kinks is the hard part.
Here is my first stab at the design.

I would suggest getting the spring issue of MAKE magazine - - they have
plans for a remote control lawn mower, which of course could be adapted
to a metal detector.
Problem is, it costs hundreds of dollars and lots of man-hours.
I think we could just latch a detector on to a R/C vehicle and do away
with all the do-dads and bells and whistles.
Once the basic design works, we could add remote viewing or
signal transfer.
The video shows a hybrid that costs under $110.
You need a "crawler" type vehicle, which has more torque.

I saw a toy R/C car on ebay that is a metal detector. You just drive around until it beeps then stop. I forget who made it. It was cute, cheap, but truly pointless. When they get one that will offer remote recovery as well, I'll take one with an umbrella, lawn chair, and an extra set of batteries.
