Congratulations on a nice gold band and a heck of a pile of coins. With the weather getting nice I'm going crazy trying to get a couple days off work. Looks like you had a great day.

Now that's a day! what locations did you MD

I found all of this at a camp/picnic site. I've been there 3 times now and have found close to 300 coins. Unfortunately none are really worth mentioning. Plus I spent more on gasoline driving there than what all of the coins are worth! But obviously nobody has ever detected the site before and I don't want to reveal the exact location because I plan on going back perhaps one more time. Still made for an awesome day though. I just love this hobby!

Nice ring. Does the F stand for filled?

I have been researching that myself. I'm not 100% sure on which to believe but some say "FG" stands for Filled Gold while others say it stands for the makers mark "Frederick Goldman."

This is not gold filled.
Tis 10k.

But what IS a mystery to me is...

What is that space age gel it is suspended in. heh

I was just going back over some of my detecting threads and came across this one. Since I no longer live in Montana, I thought it would be nice to provide the location for what could be a possible good/great day for somebody to detect. I never did cover the entire area so there might be some nice relics/coins left to find.

It is located at Camp Baker (Smith River State Park) which is 27 miles NNW of White Sulphur Springs. The land is about an acre for picnics, camping and a put-in point for the river. I had approval with the management there and they were appreciative of the trash items I picked up as well.
