The Fisher 1236-X2 is one fine detector that many don't know about. It is like the famous older 1235-X but with improved features and is quite deep. I haven't tried it with the larger coil, but it should be great if the area isn't to trashy.
Here is a field test on the 1236-X2. :read2:

I just purchased the 10.5 coil this season. I was very pleased with the results. I got about 20-25% more depth and was able to pinpoint extremely well. I was also able to go back to places that we have pounded pretty hard and get some deeper stuff. Overall, a very good coil. Hope this helps. Oh yeah, the only issue I had was that if you are hunting very trashy areas, it gets kind of difficult to seperate signals. I was able to get better with it as the season went along. Again, a very good coil.

The sleeper coil for this machine is the 5 X 10 elliptical which is as scarce as hen's teeth. It hunts good in trash but you can cover ground quicker. I sold my 1236X-2 but am on the lookout for another Los Banos one. The latter ones were made in China

Use that elliptical coil on my 1235X when I'm feeling adventurous. Yep, great at picking targets apart but it does sacrifice depth a little. Seems to lose almost 1.5" on nickels, about an inch on other coins.
