It finally stopped raining so my friend and I went to hunt a new location we recently got permission to access.
We had the area of interest narrowed down to somewhere on 80 acres. He went one way and I went the other.
Thirty minutes later we were digging coins. We knew there would be a lot of coins at this site and we were
not disappointed.

These are his and my finds before cleaning:

Uncleaned Finds-2a.jpg

Total Tally:

1 - 1893 Morgan Dollar
1 - 1898 Barber quarter
4 - Seated dimes
5 - Barber dimes
1 - Canadian dime
11 - Liberty nickels
51 - Indian pennies
2 - Copper rings
1 - 5 cent Bar token
1 - Church pin

Most of the Indian pennies were “toasted” and not worth cleaning.
The nickels weren't much better, but I'll try some Gojo on them later.

His silver looks nicer than mine.

He shined his silver up with baking soda.
WTG Ken. Nice to see you are getting out and finding the old silver. 51 INC'S...that has to be a record. GL and HH

Thanks Dave. Good to see you on the Indiana board. Hope you're getting a few hunts in this Fall.
I haven't done any hunting in Vigo or Sullivan since you moved. Been mostly hunting in Montgomery, Bartholomew and Decatur. We've had a lot of rain here this Fall and it's been slow getting back out to the fields. I went by two new sites yesterday and they both still had beans. Oh well ! Guess it will still be there in the Spring.

Stay in touch

80 acres. What a great go to permission to have! Congratulations on all the keepers and thanks for the post.

Decatur & Barth is where I swing. Come on over and we'll do some huntin.

That's a really great day for coinage totals.
Congrats on the silvers and IHPs very impressive.
So what dod you reckon was on the site a hall, church, store?
It's certainly has lots of potential for a few return hunts.

The site was a picnic grove I read about in a newspaper.
We've hunted it a couple times since then. Found ~30 more
coins. It was a good site. Unfortunately, without a deep plowing,
we probably won't find much there in the future.
