After taking a tip from a fellow member, I really landed on the coins today. 3 wheats, 4 silver dimes (one not pictured), 4 Ikes, a JFK commemerative, and last but not least...an 1881 Morgan silver dollar. Yes. From a Coinstar's dirt cup. Also not pictured, are almost 5 bucks of clad and a handful of foreigns. I also found a Trump Plaza $1 coin a few weeks back. I'll post that picture some other time!

Tally:
Wheat Penny (x3)
Silver Roosie (x4)
Ike (x4)
Morgan (x1) 1881-P (No mm)
Foreigns xSoManyAndDiverseIwillHaveToCountLater
$5+ clad
JFK Commemerative Coin (x1)

However, there is a sadder side to the story...at the bottom of a dirt cup in one of the stores...was what appeared to be an eight Reale coin; the legendary Piece of Eight. I don't know if it's a replica or not, but I wanted it. The employee however, having given me the Morgan and JFK Commemerative started getting antsy, and said I couldn't keep it because it was foreign...I am about to head back to see if it's still there. I have my trapdoor opening Ike with me... It would definitely be worth it if it's real.

A Morgan in a coinstar......
Gulp.
Thought I'd seen it all.

A Morgan. In a Coinstar. Now you have friend. Hope I find a Peace Dollar in one.

OMG, awesome score. :headbang: You got to be kidding me.

Going back tomorrow to hit up some more locations with my adorable little sister, and some Ike's...more importantly my sister, who could con Scrouge into letting her keep spare change...

Absolutely a outstanding find. Unless someone finds a gold coin, you will have the Coinstar find of the year.

That wasn't my tip a while back about using dropping an Ike in and then having an employee open it to get it back?

Congrats on some Super Finds.
My very first Coinstar find was an 1888 Morgan Dollar. It was removed from the jammed turntable and handed to me by a TD Bank employee.
I still think it came from someone's coin collection.

Partially was your tip, I made some modifications because I'm well versed :p sometimes I did, sometimes I didn't. I'll explain more in the next topic because I found 20 Ikes yesterday. They also let me into the "FORBIDDEN JUG" which is really only a dirt cup dump that CS employees use. One of the places I went to yesterday was really nasty about it to me and they dumped a bunch of Ikes, smashed coins, and other trash right into the money box.

No Morgans or Spanish reales here. But the small victories can be so satisfying...

Yesterday, I went to the grocery store with 81 cents in my pocket. Thanks to Coinstar, I came back with 48 cents in clad and copper, a can of ravioli, and a 1947-D silver dime.

That homegrown $1000 FV bag is still going to take a while.

That's beyond sweet.

Got an idea... mount a camera that monitors all Coinstar activity in real time! Just like the traffic cameras on the freeways! We could watch from our computers or better yet our cell phones.

I thought about it but it might be illegal :3

The good...

My first Coinstar silver quarter, a 1955-P. Also three pre-Euro German pfennig coins (a 1 and two 2's), and a penny from Zimbabwe. I hadn't seen a silver quarter in circulation in more than 40 years.

The bad...

20170722_175753.jpg

A few skunk searches, then a penny, a car wash token, and a lithium battery. I'll bet it doesn't even work.

And the ugly...

Someone left this poor abused Zincoln on the shelf. Chances are it won't do me any good either.

A Coinstar machine is like life--you never know what you're going to get. Happy hunting, all.
