I found this on Saturday and thought I would post it here since I previously only posted it in the "Todays Finds" forum. Some of you may not bother to look in there....so here it is.

Unfortunately there is no makers mark...but I'll take it.

I have not seen one of this quality before. That's not to say they don't exist...but from collections I have seen, and photo's of other similar brooches, they are usually much more crude.

This is my first brooch of this style, and has been on my wish list for a long time.

Thanks for looking

Wess

Anyone know much of the manufacture of these? Mine seems much more ornate than most I have seen, and not as cheaply made if that makes sense. The period on this is 1760 without a doubt.

Thanks man. Closer to Brockville actually.

I can't believe I missed this post! Wess, that brooch is amazing! It looks to be older than the heart shaped ones that I have and possibly thicker. Did you ever find a match through research? It was probably made in Quebec, no doubt. I wonder how many patterns of the heart shaped brooches there are out there. Already there are 3 different brooches posted here than the 2 or 3 that I have.
That brooch is as good as it gets! I wish I could find one like that!
Thanks,
Dave.
