Hi. I recently picked this up at an estate sale and I am trying to figure out what it is. I does test as silver. I cant find any similar coins with these exact crests. Is it real?

I know almost nothing about spanish silver coins, but I work with metal and antiques, and since no one else has answered: this sure looks entirely modern to me. It looks like the fish and “coin” were cast as one piece, vs the fish being soldered to a much older coin. The patina across both of those parts is also consistent, making it look intentionally applied. The coin edges appear to have seen an angle grinder, the hammer or chisel imitating facets are pretty poorly done. One man’s opinion. Silver, at least! Correction: just noticed the third photo, there is some solder connecting the fish and coin there. Maybe strengthening the casting? Either way, I stand with my overall opinion.

First opinion... It is not a real coin.... at least the first and foremost red flag is the fact it has been welded to the bail.
.. and COULD be in fact real... BUT... they ruined its value by doing that if so.

The fish is definitely soldered on and strangley they made the weight perfectly within the range of what a real one would be from my research. Its 30.5 grams the fish would be at least 3 i think. Not saying its real but its a mystery for sure.

It's a really cool fake made with casting and a wax pen. I would say that while not original, it's only a step below the process I used to create some cast 2 escudos back in 2000's. It's has some awesome looking hammered edges. An excellent jewelry artist created it for a lot of money and I would say it's a unique, hand-made piece.
