Pin Pointer for upland/waterfowl hunting

You folks would be the best to ask..would the pin pointers used in metal detecting be useful to find steel/bismuth/lead in birds?

Anybody do this to avoid broken teeth when eating those ducks?

Any model better or cheaper for that purpose?
