A great book on Nevada ghost towns and mining camps is coincidentally named
'Nevada Ghost Towns and Mining Camps', by Stanley W. Pahor
ISBN: 0-8310-7075-7
It contains nearly 500 pages of history, maps and pictures--to get you started.

The Lake will get your gear impounded and you about a 5000 fine, if the ranger doesn't arrest you. Just be warned. Also any item found on Lake Reserve property is under the antiquites etc. They are VERY picky about it. People report people they see detecting its a big no no. Trust me I'd love to hit the old beach areas that are now above water line.

If you need to meet regulars for Las Vegas www.lvgpaa.com is the GPAA chapter in Las Vegas.

desert detecting

:icon_sunny: I am looking for people to go metal detecting with on the weekends. I would enjoy going for anything such as: ghost towns, gold nugget hunting, meteorite hunting, or anything else. I am new to the area. Does anyone have any suggestions?

will also be moving to Vegas in about a week, plan to do some desert hunts etc

For anyone in Henderson still interested in getting out to do some detecting or gold prospecting let me know. Just to say also, the Moderator gives good advice - anywhere within the Lake Mead National Park area is not permitted. :BangHead:
