The last video game I would get a thrill out of cost a quarter to play at the Lariet Bar in Buena Vista, Colorado. It was probably around 1982 or 83 was last time the game ended for me. Looks like Centipede! I used to play that back in the day. That one, Space Invaders, Asteroids, Defender, Joust, Galaga, and Robotron. That's about all they had around here. I think Tempest and Q*Bert were around for a while too. Q*Bert was neat because when your character jumped off the edge of the map and fell down, there was something inside the bottom of the cabinet that would thump the cabinet to make it seem like the character actually fell into the bottom of it.

I wasted a lot of quarters in those days.

While reports have stated that the game was financially successful for Atari.... Raiders of the Lost Ark was described by Bruce Chadwick as selling below Atari's expectations at less than a million copies sold by February 1983.

Electronic Games (magazine) stated that the game "doesn't quite live up to its inspiration [...] does not excel in excitement", and was inferior to Pitfall!, which was also released in 1982.

Hey, I'm jes' messin' wif ya (but IMO, that game DID stink!) I hope the new one surpasses expectations!
