I have been out several times now but the finds have been quite meager. I did find a mercury dime today which helps. Unfortunately, it is encased in asphalt. Not sure I can clean that off or perhaps I'll leave it as is. :dontknow:
The other finds are 59 coins worth $6.49 and some junk jewelry pieces. The little heart pendant is quite tiny. I'm surprised my detector picked it up at about a foot down.

or W.D 40 which is more common to have around for most.

Well I tried WD40 and it did not do anything. I didn't have any kerosene or diesel fuel on hand but I did have some paint thinner so I gave that a go. I soaked the coin for about an hour and the obverse side cleaned up quickly & nicely. However, the reverse had a good chunk of asphalt which did not want to come off without possibly damaging the coin so I let it soak overnight. After that, the asphalt came off quite easily with a wooden skewer although a little bit remains but I'm going to leave it as it. I'm happy with the results.
