You've got $2000.00 to spend...

You suddenly came across $2000.00 to spend on metal detecting equipment. How would you spend it given the following parameters?

You currently have a Gold Bug 2, and a White's Eagle II. You want to pick up some of the deeper gold that the GB2 isn't catching, and get some functional upgrades to the Eagle II. You would like to be able to detect within the fresh water streams, but not a deal killer if compromised for much better function on land. Buy one machine and several coils or buy multiple machines - spend the $2000 however you see fit.

You live in an area with a history of producing gold, ghost towns, and more than 25 miles of tailings along the fresh water streams leftover from the gold rush days. Lots of hot rocks. There are huge areas where sandy bottom rivers have receded until the spring thaw that would be open to hunting. Parks and playgrounds would be hunted every once and a while, but not often.

Finding gold and jewelry is primary, finding silver is secondary. Relics are last on the list, but would be a consideration if these would be more likely to be found in these sort of places.

What would you get?

Obviously I'm trying to get some ideas on how best to spend a budget of $2000. I'm considering everything from the XT705 w/ several coils & Falcon MD-20, or maybe a White's V3i with an extra coil or two, perhaps an AT Gold & an F75 - even considering adding a few more $$$ to get the CTX 3030...I'm open to ideas!!

I'd look at the Minelab line and decide what they have that appeals to me.

I would go with the xp deus! For what u will use it for its top of the line! Amazing separation for coins and jewelry. Minelab etrac would be second for me due to have used one for a few years already. Love it but deus beats it due to the areas I hunt. More trash littered spot and deus assists me better for this!

Im with Eric the xp deus is a Very hard machine to beat has options of what ur looking for, change frequencies on the fly, fastest responce of any, folds up Very small, its just a Very Very good machine,& deep so If u decide to get one get a good shovel

Find a used ctx

Why used when you can go brand new. Hahaha either way all the machines in said for ur budget are Very good & Very capable of producing for ya good luck you got quite the choice to make. Even narrown it down 2-3 machines that fit ur needs best & then re ask your question hh

AT Pro & ATX or TDI

i would buy the v3i wireless and a 6x10 coil three freq and visual readout of the ground there are alot of great features on that machine and a fairly high 22.5 option for gold if not that the deus would be my second choice but the coils are way expensve gl with your decision

I'll agree I had a v3i with all the sef coils definitely an amazing machine with its unlimited features bright color screen, low,med & a high frequency. In my opinion it puts it in a realm of whatever machine you can think of or want you can make it into. As far as the deus xp oh ya another absolute knock out of the park detector that is the lightest built, not a single wire,& the fastest responce out there very easy to carry fold it up away you go with options for different programs & frequencies at the push of a button, coils ya there expensive but if you play it right get a full deus xp with any coil u want with the remote & headphones, save for 1 more coil, & now you have urself 2 deus xp high end machines pair each coil up 1 with the remote on the stem & coil, then use the headphones pair it with the other coil & make your own stem. Now u got 2 deus machines for a friend or whatever u want

Yeah I had the good fortune of a close family member offering to buy me a metal detector with this budget. I ended up getting the XP Deus and couldn't be happier. I think it's a great fit with the gold bug 2 for a nice range of versatility.

I would get a T2 and an M6. Both with multiple coils and a Propointer. Wait I already have these. Great units.
