Someone asked me today if I would show them my two favorite finds from this year so far, so I did, which wasn't exactly what he was expecting me to select. No gold, no platinum, no old silver coins, just a handmade sterling silver spoon ring and the old Green River Whiskey token in the image below. I can't even tell you for sure why they're my favorite finds, they just are for some reason. So this begged me to ask the same of you, “what are your two favorite finds from this year so far?”

Good thread idea!

You like those Finds because they are kinda unique, and somewhat valuable as well...!
Great Finds!
I won't sell my finds, they will go to family when I pass on....then they'll understand me...! :laughing7:

Two best finds this year?
I'd say two different sterling silver earrings, one has an opal and topaz stones.
I don't have photos of all my finds, but if you insist, I'll try and chase down both and photograph them,
with my "flip phone" camera - my scanner doesn't work...! I know I can find one right away.
All I find is junk jewelry and clad coinage..., so silver is a RELIEF from a LONG Dry Spell of silver....!
The rest of the good hunting season lasts until October or November here, when the ground turns into concrete...!
GL+HH!

Definitely number one is a Barber quarter since I have looking for a Barber dime, quarter or half since I got into this hobby.

Number two is probably a great looking Walker half but it might be tied with another thing I found due to it's cool factor.
A simple elongated penny with the Lord's Prayer, but all clues lead me to the conclusion that it is made from an Indian Head and not a wheat or memorial cent.

I will participate, but it is just to show off.

I went to NJ in April on vacation, TNetter Treblehunter took me hunting.

I managed to find:

My oldest US coin: 1800 DB Half Cent.
My oldest US silver coin: 1831 Capped 5C.

Within the last 12 months or since Jan 1st?

Here are my favorite for the year so far.

A CW era gold plated brass wedding ring, found with other CW relics on the retreat path of the Union army.

Second is a perfect example of a solider made nipple protector.
Nice thread.

I found my first gold this year, an 1849 Liberty dollar. My other favorite is a Mercury dime my son-in-law found on his first time out. He is now excited about the hobby and I'm really happy to have him joining me on hunts.

Almost forget about this. Half of a Confederate wreath buckle. Guess I'm posting my THREE favorites for the year.

Hey wait a minute, this Relic Nut guy posted three finds, and I only got to post two. Is it OK for me to post another find?

I'm a coin person and really enjoy digging coins, so my 2 favorite finds so far this year are coins.

#1 is this Fugio cent I dug in April. (My Avatar picture) I chose this as my #1 find because of it's rarity and interesting history.

#2 is the 1902 Canadian Quarter I found this month. I chose this as my #2 find because I rarely dig silver, and it is the first silver quarter I have dug.

found more than two favorites..

Found some fun goodies so far this year.
If I have to pick only TWO faves it has to be these two Barbers, both found same day and area:

Sorry for the pics of three coins, but the '15 wheat was also found that day.
Memorable day, that one, as it was also the very first time out with a new detector, too. :tongue3:

Sorry no photos of mine but they are the smiles on the faces of those who are handed back the ring they thought was lost forever. Three so far but the year isn't over yet.

1870something seated dime, 1841 seated half. too lazy to find and take photos right now I'll add later

I would have to say my 1875 Seated Liberty Dime was exciting since it was my first one. And this wheat penny that was shot with a 22. The lead was about 5 or 6 feet away from the penny. My two favorites for the year are below. Key date 1877 Indian head penny. And my only big silver for the year a 1905 S barber half dollar.

My favorite 2 finds this year were: #1. Small gold wedding band with small single row of diamonds that I found for a young newly wed man (no pic). #2. Silver (.925), diamond and ruby (?) ring (pictured). The diamonds and stones form a heart. Diamonds were tested as good. Also have found 6 gold bands this year and about 15 other silver rings, but I just love the silver diamond heart ring. Wife doesn't like hearts...any women out there who would appreciate a man with a heart?

LawrencetheMDer,
