A few months back in December, I found what was probably the find of my metal detecting lifetime. It was a 1.3 ounce 14k gold class ring from the US naval academy. It was found with my Outlaw near a ball field in sunny So Cal. The Outlaw gave me a max sig, with a nice "smooooth" tone that said dig me! I was shocked and amazed!
Well the Outlaw has amazed me again.
In So Cal we live in a new world, most of the towns are just not that old, so the old finds are far and few in-between. What we do have is lots of sun and seemingly endless parks, schools and beaches.
The Outlaw is a perfect machine for this type of environment, its stable fast and has an extended disc that will allow you to rid yourself of all the junk that is prone in the areas that I work in. YES its not a depth king BUT in a new area like So Cal you don't need depth , you need sensitivity and speed and thats what you get with the Outlaw. This past weekend I was able to pick two very small silver items that the machine said dig. There was a nice smooth tone with a hint of faintness to it that gave me that feeling there just might be something good down there. The depth of the two items was between 4"and 5" in hard pack bone dry clay ( we are in a 1200 year drought ). One was a small .925 heart the other a small .925 clasp. Both disc'd out some where past Zinc. I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the objects and the ability of the Outlaw to find such small silver items. Ok, yeah! call me easy to "please" but down here in So Cal beggars cant be picky.
With small finds like these there's hope that someday there will be another find of a lifetime in the next hole!
