Was killing time at goodwill over weekend and found a very old platter and looked like matching pitcher. Anyway being newer at the thrift store thing they wanted 9.99 for it . On the bottom all it said was silverw the rest was wore off, without a pic cause I passed on it was this a good find or a leave it alone lol.

9 times out of 10 it probly said silverware an it was probly plated, but with that being said alot of plated stuff still has good value.. I don't think one can tell ya if it's a good deal or not without seeing the item.. I am thinking what you are calling a pitcher might be a coffee pot? or creamer? with matching tray

Goodwill has thier employees trained to put what they think is good aside to be looked at by the managers etc. The goodwill I go to has nothing but ordinary items. Anything half way decent is marked up and put at the counter. Last year they did not do that and I would find some good stuff. Now that they have thier own aution site very little gets past them. It is now a challange for me to find something they missed.
