I've got that rocky clay soil too at a lot of my sites. The Lesche probably works as good as anything out there. Sharp, narrow blade with serrated edges works well for cutting through thick grass roots. Bought the Preditor this year. Worked OK in the early spring when the ground was soft and moist, but now you would have practically stand on it to get the blade to go in.

Lesche M85

My favorite is perfect for lawns and parks but was a custom & no longer available so I won't tease you. ;-)

Great feed back, thanks

Backhoe. Just kidding, I have a Lesche but on one site I have a custom made stainless long handled digger, the guy who made it went out of the metal detecting business.

This one was a huge improvement from what I had. I'm happy with it 20180519_213131.jpeg

Have any of you used Teknetics "The Digger" ? It has lots of teeth on both sides, think it's something like $29.95. Of course if you buy the Teknetics T2+ (T2 classic at $499), the plus means you also get The Digger plus their $129 (MSRP $149) pin-pointer for a total of $549. I'm told the pin-pointer air tests at 3" on a dime, compared to about 2" on Whites TRX or Garrett AT "Carrot".

I'd like to believe I'm not the only one who had asked themselves if they want a right-handed or left-handed digger, or if they prefer doing a clockwise plug or a counter-clockwise plug. Of course I don't care what any of you use as long as you like it. BTW, the T2 classic air tests at 8.5" on a dime inside house with 5" DD coil, sens 99. Stock 7x11 coil air tests 10" on dime, sens only 80 due to EMI inside house. Best wishes, all.

I've used my 3-in-1 digging knife for 35 years and I wouldn't trade it for a dozen of any of the newer or more expensive digging tools. It's made of steel that I've pried thousands of rocks and iron targets with and has never broken its tip or bent. You can still find similar knives on eBay. The handle of mine is made of wood whereas the newer ones are made of plastic or rubber. Below are two photos of it, a few years ago, after I used it to dig a 1936 Roosevelt/Cox Texas Centennial Good Luck token and a 1917 Mercury dime at the same location in very rocky soil.

Iv got a Lesche digger and really like it.Have a Predator Pirahna shovel arriving tomorrow.

G.A.P. and I are on the same page with Treasurewise. ╦╦Ç

I totally agree, the Raptor model 31 Lesche is the best digging tool available

I really like the White's Digmaster. By far my favorite digger with the most durable handle I have found. I have had gator diggers before and the rubber handle always falls apart on them.
