some one looted it :evil6:

any history in the ground left to rot, needs to unearthed, it does no good staying in the ground.

I salute those who loot but please don't pollute give a hoot

Awww.... blootiful, simply flippin blootiful...

another missing post...

I read all about this in the "Book of Looteronomy"

Although I didn't see this particular post, it's an old song.

Anyone who has been in the hobby for even a short time knows how it goes.
The troubling thing I'm seeing of late is how the detectorist is assuming their hobby can never be taken away.

It's the sentiment that we are all looters that says it all. If one can demonize another than it's a LOT easier to get votes to get rid of the other. Truth or not, if a lie is repeated often enough it can begin to sound like the truth. Let alone if it's being backed up by tree climbing, backhoe digging, coin licking, screaming idiots.

Think it's not happening? How many times have you seen a no metal detecting sign recently?

If we are a bane to the archeologists, it's because they feel a need to "protect their phoney baloney jobs".

2000 years ago an arrow was fired from yon bluff, given all the physics it could have reached the leader standing on another hill. Therefore, 2000 years ago, the "Boring War" was indeed started by the ones standing on the original bluff. signed - Archeologist savant

Question. So what?

Happy Hunting everyone, enjoy it while you can.

I'm a "Looter" and I'm Okay!

We do it for free and for fun, I would say they wouldn't do what they do unless their paid for it. That shows how dedicated they are to the preservation of history and has anyone seen the show called lost gold of the dark ages where the guy finds all that silver and gold artifacts from the dark ages, they don't know anymore about how or why it got there than you or I do. They can guess but its just a guess as they will never know for sure someone would have had to have been there since there's no written record of what happened, I would guess most of them are way to lazy to detect all the places just to hope to get lucky and find something like we do. They really just want to wait till we find something then take over our finds or wait till some construction unearths something but in the case of construction how much was destroyed before they found they had hit something historical. Tomorrow I plan to loot me some nails and pull tabs... Maybe a bottle cap or two...

When asked about new metal detecting laws and the loot system, a leading investigating officer explained, "Under the new loot system, even though you get loot from property where you put your boot, you can still get the booted off that property without getting the loot."

That's why we need to give a toot about putting our boot only where we're allowed to take the loot!

Our slogan should now be:

"Give a toot about the loot, get OK'd before you boot!"
