Very old site near very old towns...in the woods where we have found other old stuff... including another British coin that was unfortunately also no date- BUT it was a KG III like many i have found before.

This one I noticed the head was looking left... not right like a KG III. So I googled and found the KG II pictures.

So there were 2 primary types of KG II- young head and old head.

The lower edge of the earlier younger shoulder is a slight upward curve- smile ) for lack of better description- then in 1740 switched to frown ( curved downward.

So from what I can tell, this is a younger- between 1728-1739

Sorry for the bad pic.. you know how toasted coppers are...move em around when wet and you can see what the camera doesn't.

Congrats! Nice old copper there

He's not pretty... but at almost 300 years old...I'm not complaining.

For anyone interested in the differences-

You will notice the ones at the bottom- 'old head' after 1740 have the edge of the guy's shoulder curved down.

Compare to the top picture of the younger head.

Here is another of the younger head- https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces13096.html

and the older head- https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces13118.html
