You'll NEVER believe where I found these !!!!

A few weeks ago, on my days off, made my normal rounds to all the local schools and parks in the area. In one of the parks I decided to hit the kiddie playground first... glad I did !!! just beyond the swings, actually behind the swings, got a nickel reading on my MXT, dug under the chips and out popped a buffalo nickel..WOW ..I thought, how odd to find one of these in a playground...as I stood up my coil ran over the area and bang, another signal.... scanned and out popped another buffalo nickel. Well, you can guess what I did next...LOL scanned the whole area completely..in fact...scanned the whole playground..total take was "5" indian head nickels. I scanned all 5 at high resolution so these pics may be a bit big..but wanted you all to see the detail on these coins..these are just as I found them. guess some young child dumped them out of their pocket, or perhaps someone else did..anyway, they are in my collection now. not sure of the quality, but will be checking the current value listing to verify the dates and mint marks. By the way, I didn't find another coin that day at the playground, just those 5 nickels.. Enjoy the view.

Some kid must have taken from his parent's collection. His loss is your gain. Congrats!

I agree. I can't tell you how many things of mine went to school over the years and never came home.....The best was a Civil War tintype of a Confederate soldier given to me by my great grandfater...Ugh.....

Re: You'll NEVER believe where I found these !!!!

A few weeks ago I found a few wheat pennies in a similar incident at the park, found a silver quarter in the wood chips a while ago. Yesterday at an elementary school I found a silver Franlin half and at another elementary I found a 14 karet gold ring with a half karet ruby, at an elementary. Those kids definatly get into their parents stuff and then lose it. good job on the nickels....Kane23

I agree, someone could have buried a cache and it was torn up and spread when they built the totlot.

:D

Keep @ it and HH!!

Re: You'll NEVER believe where I found these !!!!

Those nickels are not from a cache, they have no signs of corrosion, they were lost recently...Kane23
