Hi -

I wanted to post something to give away in the "Free Stuff" folder this morning, but there was no "Post New Thread" button on the page. Looking at the bottom of the page in the 'Posting Permissions' section, I note it says this: "You may not post new threads".

I don't know if any of the other forum folders are barring me from posting (obviously this one isn't), but would it be possible to get permission to post in the Free Stuff page?

Thanks!

Tom

I think that sub forum is in the Charter Member section, only Charter Members can post.

That would explain it, although it seems odd (to me) that such an altruistic folder wouldn't be open to everyone. But what do I know....

Thanks, Ron.

Probably because some of the free stuff may involve a shipping cost which in turn could open a door for a potential scammer. I'm just speculating though.

it is probably due to the fact separating forums within the Classifieds section cannot be done
as far as the Charter member permissions go.

I always felt that section should be open.

purchasing a charter membership to give something away discourages it.

as far as I'm concerned, If you are giving an item away no strings attached
you can post it in General Discussion.

If you are giving several away where you could be considered collecting multiple addresses.
(Email or home addresses)
Or expecting Shipping Fees , I can't give you that permission

Great, thanks for clearing that up for me, Jeff. Much appreciated!

Wouldn't it be easier to just become a Charter Member?

It's pretty cheap, one of the best deals around, and you would support the site you use. (all said in the nicest of ways)

I can see where only Charter Members can post, but all can see. Wider buying audience that way.
